Artistic StatementMy artwork has the intention to evoke, rather than simply portray. Inspired by Eastern Philosophy, I do not impose a view or meaning onto the viewer, but prefer to leave it up to their perception. My style is expressionistic abstract, hence can be interpreted uniquely by each viewer relative to their own point of view, but it does aim to strike some emotion or feeling in the observer. The abstracted style allows me to transfer the feeling into a visual form, so it can come out of the work. My predominant medium is oil paint, used in a way to maximize this experience through rough or layered textures and bold, expressive colors. My work is grounded in aesthetics, finding beauty in any sentiment or situation. Wonder, and its expression in each original painting, is one of the most important things I can pass on to the viewer.
BackgroundBorn in Rzeszow, Poland, I have immigrated to the United States in 1993 and have been a resident of Jersey City, NJ for the past 20 years. The change, diversity and progress of the city have been a continuous source of artistic inspiration. I have studied with local artists as well as formally at Parsons School of Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. I create art by private commission offering unique, original pieces for clients. I have also displayed work at the Jersey City Museum, Public Library, and City Hall; the Contemporary Art Fair at Javits Center in New York City; A.I.R. Gallery in DUMBO Brooklyn, as well as galleries in Jersey City. My work features oil painting, watercolor, mixed media art, as well as fashion illustration and design.
