i first fell in love with over the knee boots as i saw them walk down the rodarte runway for fall 2009. at first i could not tell these were boots at all. they are tigh high and fabulous in every way. i was waiting for the trend to hit, and it did mainstream, almost on queue, this winter. below are a couple of boots im rocking this winter. not quite rodarte thigh high, but still over the knee great. bone leather, rouched and side studded kelsi dagger OTK boots charcoal leather, studded top kenneth cole OTK boots

last month i volunteered on my day off for MLK with jersey cares organization. there was maybe a total of over 200 people that came out to collectively revitalize a public elementary school in jersey city, PS #5. the school made a petition to the organization regarding its needs, as it does not have a sufficient budget to extra work to get done within the school. walking around the school, it was obvious it needed some attention, especially the basement. it was dark, unkept, pipes running through, with rooms that surely did not resemble classrooms. with the combined effort, the group made a difference. we painted walls brighter colors, drew murals on the walls, and touched up old spots.
the change gave the space a brighter look, but more importantly, when the kids come back to school and see the change, it will give them a brighter outlook as well. it serves as a reminder that their school is important and thought of. a conducive environment to constantly do your best. it was a great experience to be a part of and see it all come together, and even more special since i am from jersey city and attended its public schools. i am part of the community and see it an obligation, and pleasure, to give back when and how i can. it is OUR world. |
