on trend for winter 2010, and a necessity in my opinion, are bomber hats- especially in fur (which is a big trend on its own this winter). these hats come straight from the runways as seen below in the jean paul gaultier and banana republic fall 2010 looks. the hat is definitely a statement piece that look fabulous when worn and the look is pulled off. i am seeing them worn all over manhattan this winter already, so im happy the trend is officially caught on. they come in many variations, i prefer the fur, but you can get the fabric, wool, or faux fur if you're opposed to the real thing. see rihanna on the right below wearing the trend. they can be worn with the ear flaps down, but also tied in the back of the hat, or on top. i have owned this hat already for the past six years in white rabbit fur. clearly, it is a great investment. i can't live without it in the winter, it keeps you incredibly warm, and got me through all four intense boston winters (me in the middle of a boston winter wearing my hat on the left below). i owned this hat unfortunately, until last winter, when i tragically left it inside a cab, never to be seen again. so, i am on a hunt to find the same one again, and think i found a pretty close match on the right below from furhatworld.com. i can't wait to receive it!

i got to go to the colbert report taping on monday, and it was an awesome experience! they hype the audience pretty good with some stand up, and pretty much tell us to laugh whether its funny or not, bc 'colbert eats that shit up'. he does feed off the audience though so it is important to give him the energy. sitting in the front row was pretty neat since the studio is pretty intimate, so you were right there and got to interact with him, like give him high fives when he does his crazy run-around. he did do a wink and point at me though, because clearly i was pretty excited sitting there, so hey i did one back at him. he is a very nice and smart guy and came to shake our hands afterwards and do a q&a. he says the hardest part about staying in character is being a jerk to some very intelligent people- true. we were told colbert is a real pro and the show is always one take, because he never makes mistakes. in fact they said if he does make a mistake he will kiss someone on the mouth. of course, then he goes to taping and .. messed up a line, no one got a kiss though. definitely a fun, free thing to do in the city though, oh and also military doesn't have to stand in line ;)
